Discussion Topic
- Thoughts on AACII Charter and purpose of the Council.
Discussion Questions
- Questions below sent ahead of time to members to think about.
1. What should be the responsibilities of AACII?
2. What do you find the most beneficial about being a part of AACII?
3. What things would you change about AACII? I.e. Different discussion topics? Changing the nomination process so that A-Deans would nominate new members? Changing membership size?
4. Do you think the current balance between central office and DLCI members works well?
What is the Purpose of AACII? Should We Re-write the Charter/Goals/Purpose?
- The Charter is clear, relevant and necessary. However, it seems AACII has strained from the Charter
- AACII has become a stop on presentation tours.
- The goal of the presentations is to provide a forum for members to ask questions and tell presenters what we need in doing our jobs.
- Some members expressed interest in knowing earlier about policy changes.
- What are pressing needs for the Institute for the year ahead to help shape the Charter.
- Should members have more time to review the presentations (possibly ahead of time) to add value.
- Create more of a working group aspect to the council.
- How do we add value in a way that attracts presentations early enough in the process, so feedback can be taking into consideration. Become an early stop on the tour, not last.
- Annual meeting is useful and well received by administrators.
How Do We Keep AACII going? How Should It Evolve and be Meaningful to Members and MIT?
- Maybe it would be helpful to add representation from central offices such as Internal Audit, Risk Management.
- Have opportunities to learn from each another within the Council. What are other DLCIs doing that others could utilize/benefit from.
- Suggestion to have regularly scheduled meetings with Renaud Fournier (Chief Officer of Business & Digital Transformation) about the new ERP, so AACII can provide input as the project moves forward.
Should We Rethink the Nomination Process and Possibly Involve A-Deans to Appoint People?
- Both Chair and Vice Chair are rolling off this year, along with 4 members.
- Should we go to A-Deans for nominations? How about a mix of A-Deans appointments and a call for nominations?
- Should memberships ending this year be extended in the meantime?
Next Steps
- Continue discussion in next Thursday's 5/16 meeting.
- Decide on the status of AACII.
