MIT’s Air Travel Carbon Offset Program
- Julie and Lillian gave a presentation about the program.
- Effort focuses on reducing MIT’s climate impact, sparking innovation, educating future generations, leveraging government action, uniting and coordinating all of MIT’s climate efforts.
- Goal is to eliminate direct emissions from campus by 2050.
- Climate Vault is third party vendor working with MIT on the program.
- Three offset options will be offered $50 (domestic), $75 (foreign) or a flexible contribution and all are currently voluntary.
- Contributions will be done through Coupa.
- Sponsored research/projects cannot be used for this program.
- Three DLCIs will pilot this program for the first few months. DLCIs are Sloan, School of Architecture and Planning (SA+P) and Kavli Institute for Astrophysics and Space Research.
