Note: Discussion of networking breakfast to be discussed at the next scheduled meeting due to technical issues that delayed the start of this meeting.
- The meeting focused on: MIT Strategic Action Plan for Belonging, Achievement, and Composition, with a focus on the creation of local plans.
- Maryanne Kirkbride discussed DEIs being developed at the local level (i.e., at each DLCI). She introduced Fatema Ahad the Program Assessment Analyst who can aid in determining how well the plans are working.
- Maryanne presented how to develop a plan; providing an outline to aid in the drafting and management of a plan plus ideas to keep these plans alive over time.
- The first year of these local DEIs will be a foundation year, this is the current stage of development. In this phase, Senior leadership would be involved garnering input from the unit. It was noted many plans will be at the school level; but could vary for each DLCI.
Steps to Create a Plan Include:
- Become familiar with priorities
- Figure out how things get done in your DLCI
- Brainstorm for plan elements
- Narrow the plan
- Take to the community for input
- Determine what will be committed to over the next year
Goals Include:
- Make MIT a better place; one where people want to stay.
- Ensure all employees know where they belong (i.e., their home unit) and they feel welcome.
- Plans should be published
- The HR Team, Maryanne, Chad and Gabe Campos, are available to assist DLCIs develop their plans; and over time, with the input of Fatema Ahab, assess the success of plans.
