Update on Payroll Changes

Chris Durham, Assistant Director of HR/Payroll

(Robin and Eamon gave a quick update since Chris was out ill)

MIT going to twice monthly pay period for exempt (salaried) staff (24 payments in a year)

  • At this time the targeted roll-out is April 2018.
  • Oct 2017 and Jan 2018 were also considered for the roll-out, but…
    • In Oct 2017 there is an SAP update/upgrade
    • In Jan 2018 there is processing of sponsored staff increases
  • What are the system implications?
    • The cost distribution utility (CDU) will continue be only run only once a month after the twice monthly pay period begins.
    • None for eDACCA - there still will be only one a month posting
    • No monthly accounting changes from the current process (there will be a subsystem that is deployed that will contain the details, but this will opaque in SAP)
  • There are still some questions about some of the details that will be addressed in a future meeting

AO Networking Review

All

There was a handout that tabulated the results of the survey associated with the Networking Breakfast in April.  It depicts both the quantitative results as well as the qualitative written responses to the survey questions.

Pia pointed out that support from the International Coordinating Committee (ICC) came up in the survey responses and has been a general topic of interest at the Institute.  The ICC will be invited to present to AACII given the current climate and interest in international engagements.  Topics of presentation are likely to include an overview of the ICC and resources that the ICC may be able to provide (e.g. what resources or expertise might they have available as related to international contract negotiation, etc.)

Key survey take-aways:

  • Time frame well received
  • Content well received
  • Attendees appreciated bringing a senior staff member with them (HR person)

Please let Pia know if you want to emphasize/discuss any feedback from the survey in a future meeting.  Lastly, please think about topics for our AACII meetings in the new fiscal year as you engage with others across the Institute over the summer.

Next Meeting: Luncheon on Thursday, June 15 from 12:00 to 2:00 PM in 10-340
