Presentation

  • Office of Strategic Alliances and Technology Transfer (OSATT) is 3 offices.  The Core (complimentary to RAS), TLO & Corporate Relations.
  • There has been updates to the reporting structure and there is a new Director of Corporate Relations: Gayathri Srinivasan.
  • The OSATT website has recently been updated.  The RAS website and OST are currently being updated.
  • There is a common misconception at MIT about why proposals are being held up, is more often than not that the proposal is with the sponsor.
  • Corporate sponsors are different than government sponsors and have different (if any) deadlines.
  • Does MIT own the intellectual property?  When hired, researchers sign IPIAs and give rights to the institute for any IP created using MIT resources.
  • What determines a gift?  This is not always black and white, but the short answer is that a true gift is "no strings attached."

Networking Breakfast Planning

  • Need a topic that engages the attendees and gives them an opportunity to share their experiences.
  • Suggested topic about Generative AI.  How do we bring generative AI into our DLCIs?
  • Speaker Rama Ramakrishnan gave a talk at Sloan about AI.  He has a number of videos on the topic posted on YouTube.
  • Location suggested is Schwarzman College of Computing.
  • Morning session has worked well.
  • If the budget allows, try to have light refreshments i.e. coffee, tea and etc...at 9:30am, before the event.  Then have lunch after the panel and table discussions.
  • Use lunch time to allow attendees to network.
